Proud Mom

Hey everybody!!!!!! We took mom to the doctors' office yesterday. Her appointment was at 2:30, so we got there about 2, so we could be there before the transport van got there. At 2:30 I called the nursing home to see where they were and I was informed that the van didn't pick her up until 2, and it is at least a 45 minute drive on the interstate that is if you do not run into any traffic and you can go faster than 65. But the nursing home informed that the driver called the doctors' office to say they would be late and that that was fine with the doctor. Meanwhile the doctors' office calls my cell at 3 and asks where my mom is, because he is in with the last patient of the day and needs to go to the hospital. I tell them the van driver called you and said he would be late. She tells me he said only 10 0r 15 minutes, which if you can calculate the time he was really 45 minutes late. But the doctor was great and waited on us. She will have surgery next Wednesday. The surgery is called kyphoplasty, essentially the insert needles in to the bone in the spinal cord and inject bone mortar to fill in the gaps caused by the fractures and then the will clean the area around the nerve so that nothing pinches it, which is what is causing all the pain in her leg. My sister was not too thrilled about this, but I told her if she did not have this procedure than it would be months and months of waiting for this to heal and then it still might not be right. Once she has this done the doctor said she will be in the hospital the overnight and then she can go home the next day. In 48n hours she will be completely healed and won't even know she had the surgery. I think we made the best decision and if sis don't like it she should have come to the appointment. Pray that this all goes well, because she has to be to the hospital by 6 am to be admitted.

Have a great day!!!!!!!!!

We will be taking mom to the specialist on Tuesday and will see if she needs surgery or just physical therapy. I have been running back and forth for that last couple of weeks, so that is why I have not posted much. Just not enough hours in the day. We did find out from her social worker if she keeps up with the physical therapy and the specialist gives her the ok she could go home in 2 weeks. Then that will start a whole new set of things that have to be put in place so that dad isn't constantly doing everything and not getting a break. We will see what happens Tuesday and take it from there.

Have a great day!!!!!!!!

I thought I would post real quick and let you all know that mom is doing better. They said if she keeps up with her physical therapy, she will be able to go home in about 2 weeks. Yesterday she had an appointment with a specialist, so the van came to pick her up at about 9am and we followed them the 45 minute drive to Kettering Medical center and to the doctor's office. Only to be told that since the nursing home did not sent the xrays or the paperwork with us,that we had to turn around and reschedule for next week. We were so mad that we talked to the social worker and finally got some things straightened out finally. I guess if you don't ask they don't do anything about it. I had such a migraine when I got home last night I had to take the prescription stuff and I haven't had to have that in years. Thank God it was gone this morning. Thanks for all the prayers. I will keep you posted.

Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile, but I have been so busy. My mom is still in the nursing home and on Tuesday she has to go to Kettering for a doctor to look at her back. Then we will decide hopefully what they are finally going to do about the 3 broken vertebrae. She was so bad last week that she didn't know where she was or even who any of us were when we visited. They said it was just the meds she was on, but she also had a bladder infection that was causing her to be delirious. They have the infection under control and she seems to be doing better, even walking a little bit. Between visiting mom and babysitting for drill weekend, I haven't had much time for anything else. I didn't even go to church today because the hubby said I was too tired and needed to rest. So I didn't go, I don't think that made me feel any better. I have been having a rough week. I feel pulled in all directions and that no one wants to listen to me. I have tried to explain to the hubby, but sometimes they just don't get it. I am praying this week will go better. We take mom Tuesday at 9 am, so pray for wisdom for the doctors, safe travel and wisdom for us to make the correct decision.

Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have been busy here this week going to doctors' appointments and having tests done. Monday hubby had a cat scan to check on his lungs and they say that they are the same(that is good). So he has to come back in 3 months to have them looked at again. I had my physical on Tuesday. Cholesterol is good(135, 75 for the good,63 for the bad) that is about as good as you can get. Blood pressure is 110 over 70, I told the hubby he should vent more. I had a cat scan today because I am having a lot of migraines, but that is to be expected with all the stress I have been under lately. Mom has been moved to a nursing home for at least 3 weeks. She has broken 3 vertebrae in her back. They still don't know what they are going to do about them and we won't know anything new until Monday. This is a holiday weekend so no doctors or tests this weekend. I will keep you informed as we go along.

Have a Blessed and Happy Easter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today I took the hubby to the hospital for his cat scan so we are waiting for the results. He had to have a second scan to look at the nodules they found on his lung in January. So we will be sitting on pins and needles until the doctor gives us the results. I go tomorrow for my yearly physical, so this is not a good week for us, so far.
I also had to go and sit with my mom today while my dad went to a doctors' appointment at the VA. A week ago Saturday my mom fell and they called my sister and her son to come and get her up off the floor because my dad could not lift her. The only problem was my dad did not take her to the hospital until Tuesday night and I think there is something seriously wrong with her spine. She has to use a walker to get around and she has never had a problem with that before. She said that the pain medication they gave her doesn't even being to touch the pain. She is literally yelling every time she has to stand up. Hopefully they will do something about it this time. I am still upset with my dad for not taking her to the ER on the day it happened. Parents what can you do with them.
Thank God the weather here is so glorious and we are not stuck in the house today. That will change tomorrow with the severe weather and the damaging winds and hail we are expecting.
As soon as we find out anything from the doctor I will let you all know what they say.

Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!
