Hey everybody!!!!!! We took mom to the doctors' office yesterday. Her appointment was at 2:30, so we got there about 2, so we could be there before the transport van got there. At 2:30 I called the nursing home to see where they were and I was informed that the van didn't pick her up until 2, and it is at least a 45 minute drive on the interstate that is if you do not run into any traffic and you can go faster than 65. But the nursing home informed that the driver called the doctors' office to say they would be late and that that was fine with the doctor. Meanwhile the doctors' office calls my cell at 3 and asks where my mom is, because he is in with the last patient of the day and needs to go to the hospital. I tell them the van driver called you and said he would be late. She tells me he said only 10 0r 15 minutes, which if you can calculate the time he was really 45 minutes late. But the doctor was great and waited on us. She will have surgery next Wednesday. The surgery is called kyphoplasty, essentially the insert needles in to the bone in the spinal cord and inject bone mortar to fill in the gaps caused by the fractures and then the will clean the area around the nerve so that nothing pinches it, which is what is causing all the pain in her leg. My sister was not too thrilled about this, but I told her if she did not have this procedure than it would be months and months of waiting for this to heal and then it still might not be right. Once she has this done the doctor said she will be in the hospital the overnight and then she can go home the next day. In 48n hours she will be completely healed and won't even know she had the surgery. I think we made the best decision and if sis don't like it she should have come to the appointment. Pray that this all goes well, because she has to be to the hospital by 6 am to be admitted.
Have a great day!!!!!!!!!
